JPH302- The Meaning of Prayer I
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Prayer is a process, an ongoing journey towards our Creator throughout our lives. Sometimes we feel it, and at times not, but it is always there. This class will lead students down the path of prayer, revealing its many layers, and offering knowledge that can be used as a key to unlock depth in their connection with Hashem.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will be able to explain the delineations of the mitzvah of Tefila according to its parameters M’di’oraisa and M’dirabanan, and how to fulfill the mitzvah on each level

Students will be able to understand the concept of complete reliance on Hashem and apply it to their own lives

Students will be able to outline what constitutes the body and soul of Tefila

Students will be able to identify the 4 steps in davening and be able to explain how each step helps us move beyond the smokescreen of physicality and brings us to a more complete unity with Hashem

Students will be able to compare the communication of us expressing our needs to Hashem and Hashem expressing His needs to us, in the process of Tefila.

Students will be able to view Tefila as a means to connect to Hashem

Students will be able to define women’s obligation in Tefila and know what to do in questionable circumstances
