COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This introduction to acting explores psychology and human behavior from page to stage. Students learn how to read a script, how to work on a scene, breaking it down into beats. Students study and utilize a rehearsal process, working with various scenes from American and English theatre, along with a scene partner. Script study includes monologues as well as scenes and requires performance of both.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Develop a process of taking a scene from page to stage.
Learn how to read a play for understanding and character information.
Rehearse a scene based on beat changes, where new information alters character focus.
Blocking/staging by actors in rehearsal which best expresses the human behavior and objectives at hand.
Working with a scene partner to explore the depth and possibilities of a script.
