COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is an introduction to the fundamental materials, techniques and concepts of two-dimensional visual art. Each session will be structured to include materials, technique and concept exercises, the discovery of work by artists by artists both historic and contemporary, critiques of work done in and outside of class, and studio time.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Learn basic 2-D skills (drawing, painting, collaging, printmaking and mixed media)
Experiment with and discover new ways of self expression
Practice and hone the skills necessary to express ideas and concepts in a visual way Interpret historic and contemporary references and their relevance in the production of personal works of art
Assess and celebrate personal work and the work of peers (critique)
