COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Graphic designers create visual concepts, using computer software or by hand, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate consumers. In this course, students will spend time learning the hierarchy of graphic design, including the principles of design, color theory and typography. Students will learn the basics of branding techniques, logo design and creating flyers while mastering technology that can be used in real-world applications.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Understanding the relationship between typography and context

  • Use multiple approaches to begin creative endeavors

  • Document the process of developing ideas from early stages to fully elaborated ideas

  • Students will constructively critique their own work and their peers and then respond and re-engage, revise and refine works of art and design in response to personal artistic vision
