Course Description
An in-depth study of some themes in Jewish philosophy, including the status of women in Jewish life, issues surrounding gender identity and alternative lifestyles, animal rights and animal experimentation, the Jewish outlook on the suffering of the righteous, the era of Moshiach.

A greater appreciation for Jewish philosophers and the philosophical themes dealt with in Jewish texts
An ability to describe recurrent philosophical themes through the lens of Jewish history and the way Judaism was lived and practiced
Explain the differing positions of various Jewish thinkers in relation to the major themes of Jewish philosophy studied
Demonstrate the relevance of Jewish philosophy by charting its impact in shaping the behavior of 21st century Jewry
