ART 115
STUDIO ART I
This course is an introduction to the fundamental materials, techniques and concepts of two-dimensional visual art. Each session will be structured to include materials, technique and concept exercises, the discovery of work by artists by artists both historic and contemporary, critiques of work done in and outside of class, and studio time.
MUS 110
VOICE I
Weekly 25 minute private voice lessons individually tailored to the needs and level of each student, beginner through advanced. Assignments and one on one work advance students’ knowledge of vocal techniques. An exploration of the physiology and acoustics of the human singing voice in a group setting. Vocal techniques are taught in a group format as a healthy foundation for solo performance in both classical and non-classical singing styles.
ART 117
STUDIO ART II
This course is an introductory class for the core focal points of two-dimensional Visual Arts. Students will have the opportunity for class lectures, teaching demonstrations, class discussions, and project critiques with limitless online art resources, multi-media options, and the chance to find their own unique Visual Art style. They will learn about and practice the visual art foundations of drawing and painting through formal explorations, technical methodologies, conceptual executions, and historical and contemporary artist influences.
SCR 101
SCREEN/PLAYWRITING
In this combination workshop and seminar, we will explore the elements of storytelling. You will write short plays and screenplays utilizing a variety of prompts and in-class exercises. You will give feedback on your classmates’ work and receive feedback on your own. We will also spend time reading and discussing the work of established writers, using their work to better understand concepts such as plot, character, theme, and structure.
MUS 114
VOCAL ENSEMBLE
This course will introduce students to the vocal art and to the craft of ensemble singing through explorations in various pieces of Jewish repertory. Primary objectives are free vocal production and attainment of a refined ensemble sound. Students will do physical and vocal exercises as well as basic work in musical notation, part-singing skills, and training of the ear for the special requirements of ensemble singing.
